Scientific Tutor

Extracurricular program to promote talented pupils, Heidelberger Life Science Lab, German Cancer Research Center, 2017

The Heidelberg Life-Science Lab is a facility of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ, Heidelberg) and is dedicated to the promotion of middle and high school students who are particularly interested and gifted in mathematics and the natural sciences and technology.

  • Substantive and organizational preparation and successful execution of the monthly working meetings and excursions of the working group “Politics and Law” (2017 - 2021)
  • Member of the selection committee for the annual interviews for acceptance into the program (2017 - 2020, 2022)
  • Mentorial support, i.e. introduction to the content of the newly admitted participants and organizational participation in the newcomer seminar in 2018, 2019 and 2021, the events each comprise about 100 people
  • Regular participation and organization of the annual opening events and the annual graduation ceremonies of the Heidelberg Life-Science Lab, which are attended by more than 300 guests
  • Contribution to the preparation and realization of various public presentations of the Heidelberg Life-Science Lab, e.g. during the European Researcher’s Night 2018 and 2019 at the German Cancer Research Center, which were attended by more than 1,800 guests and 2,500 guests respectively
  • Initiation and heading of fortnightly virtual board game sessions with more than 50 participants during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020 - 2021)
  • Initiation and heading of the new working group “Ludology meets Informatics” (since 2021)
  • Organization of a two-day workshop on computational and mathematical analysis and modeling of biological systems (April 2021)
